Image
Vanguard gathered yesterday that in a letter to the Clerk of the Senate, Nelson Ayewoh, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, had written that Hameed Ali will not come in complete uniform because someone has gone to court to challenge the process. According to the letter, Malami has asked the Senate to hands off the matter against the backdrop that they were already in court to challenge it whether the Senate has the powers to oversight the Customs Comptroller General as well as have the right to compel him to wear uniforms. In the letter, the Attorney- General was said to have said that there was no way the Senate could force Ali to wear uniforms when President Muhammadu Buhari does not wear military uniform as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. He was said to have accused Senate...

With the latest claim of a North Korean  missile launch , the secretive state’s military arsenal is once again in the news. Although Pyongyang is banned from conducting missile tests by the UN, it appears to be breaking that rule increasingly often. The latest test, apparently carried out on Wednesday, is the fifth time time North Korea has conducted a missile test this month alone. MORE: Is Trump’s laptop ban really about security? MORE: BBC refuses to talk to the BBC about Brexit So what is known about North Korea’s military capability in a time of increased diplomatic tension between the country ruled by Kim Jong-un, its neighbours and a more belligerent US. Image

He says he believes the intelligence collections were done legally. Nunes says the communications of Trump associates were also picked up, but he did not name those associates. He says the monitoring mostly occurred in November, December and January. Nunes says he learned of the collection through "sources" but did not specify those sources.

President Buhari fired his army's bodyguard.

Image
The development followed a series of complaints by the Chief Security Officer, to the President, CSO Bashir Abubakar who was said to not have been comfortable with the soldiers protecting the president. It was gathered that the use of army officers as body guards to provide protection to the President started soon after President Buhari moved into his official residence at the presidential villa after being sworn in May 2015. But the development did not go down well with the DSS which maintained it was its duties to protect the president. It was further gathered there had been a running battle between the former Chief Security Officer (CSO) Abdulraman Mani and the Aide de Camp (ADC) to the President, Colonel Lawal Abubakar on which of the agencies would do the job. While Mani insisted on the operatives of DSS to protect the President, the ADC preferred soldiers to serve as body guards. The battle between the two aides led to the removal of the former CSO by President Buhari. Vangua...

Here are 15 fascinating facts about North Korea, one of the most isolated and ruthlessly ruled nations on earth: 1. The founder and first leader of North Korea, Kim Il Sung, created the country's policy of  juche  or "self-reliance," which cut off North Korea economically and diplomatically from the rest of the world, even in times of great need, such as famines. 2. Image
Why I ordered suspects out of Benue, by Ortom Hundreds of protesters yesterday stormed the National Assembly (NASS) complex in Abuja to draw the attention of the federal lawmakers to the renewed killings of persons by suspected herdsmen in some farming communities of Benue State. They were, however, denied entry by some 200 armed policemen. Apparently miffed by the incident, the protesters challenged the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to rather deploy his men to halt the maiming at Tombo Mbalagh in Buruku Local Council of the state. Led by the Movement Against Tiv Massacre (VATIM), the protesters registered their annoyance at the killing last weekend of 10 persons in the council area by herdsmen. The sad incident, they added, prompted Governor Samuel Ortom to issue a 48-hour ultimatum to security agencies in the state to fish out the culprits. However, the governor has advanced reasons for the quit order he issued to armed herders in the state. Accordin...

Causes, effects and control of indecent dressing in our society.

Image
Before talking about the subject matter I Will like to attempt the definition of indesent dressing. Indecent dressing is a social malady in the society today especially by the youths. It simply means deliberate exposure of one’s body to the public. This is a deliberate exposure of once body which does not conform to the norms and values of the society, particularly the African society. This practice is now so common in public places like in churches and offices. Indecent dressing is caused by common phrases which are the problems of our generation like; “Only God can judge me, you can’t”, “Leave them alone”, This behaviour is of a hydra headed origin. It is not just a behaviour that developed overnight, but an accumulated behavioural pattern that could be attributed to the home due to neglect and/or poor parenting. The effects of globalization arising from wrong values of exportation and importation, reflection of high rate of moral decadence in the large society (c...

During the almost two-month absence, acting president Osinbajo drove policy changes, concluding an economic reform plan required for a World bank loan. The central bank devalued the naira for retail customers after a state body chaired by him called for an urgent review.                                                    The Federal Government, on Friday, preferred nine-count money laundering charge against former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mr. Andrew Yakubu, who was accused of stashing over N3billion at his house in Kaduna. Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, recovered the alleged loot which was in foreign currencies, from Yakubu’s guest house situated at Sabon Tasha, Kaduna State, following a tip-off by a whistle-blower. EFCC said it had while raiding the house, discovered the sum of $9.7million and £74,000 that Yakubu hid in a fireproof safe inside the house. A Federal High Court in Kano, on February 13, granted an order that forfeited the recovered money to FG, a decision Yakubu had since challenged, maintaining that the money was ac...
